All acrylic fibers are not the same in characteristic or quality. Lesser grades
of acrylic can look fabulous to the eye but they are far from comfortable
against the skin. They typically, also have a lesser ability to retain heat.
This is why you can find other hand crocheted afghans that cost a lot less
than Grandma's do.

Grandma’s Love afghans are each handcrafted
using super soft ultra premium yarns to wrap
your baby in comfort that is functional, elegant
and, foremost, safe. They are all constructed
using an open weave pattern.
All of the afghans made by Grandma have a
stitch called a “granny square”. The “granny
square” and the yarn choices made by
Grandma provides warmth and air flow. The
open weave provides built in breathability of
the fabric. This prevents the baby from
overheating or being overcome by a build up of
carbon dioxide both of which can contribute to
SIDS. The fluffy softness of the yarns hold heat
very well and gives the balance necessary to
keep baby warm.
